According to the information gathered, the Telecom operator seeks to hire contract staff to run the operations of the company as the company is said to be broke and can no longer retain the permanent work force.
In Lagos alone, over 1,200 were sacked while more than 800 were asked to go home in states like kano. Once any staff is asked to leave, a pay-off cheque will be handed to the person immediately, as the company is set to hire contract staff to replace them.
Some of the reasons by the management for the sack is that the company can no longer manage the wage bill and the company is going through financial crisis and can't afford to keep permanent staff, hence the need for the sack.
The company has also terminated their graduate trainee program for all fresh graduates. The Company sent out emails that the program has ended without prior notice.
